‘We were down 0‑2 — which looked like a guaranteed loss — but we reverse swept the entire series,’ shouted captain Lee “Phoenix” Min‑ho after the 3‑2 comeback that clinched the CODM World Championship 2026 Garena Finals.
The Seoul‑based squad toppled defending champs Team Nova, who had taken the first two maps with flawless execution. I watched the stream live, and the energy in the arena was electric; pure domination.
Map 1: Nova 16‑9 (Dominant). Map 2: Nova 16‑12 (Squeaky win). Map 3: Phoenix 16‑7 (Absolute cinema). Map 4: Phoenix 16‑14 (A massive choke from Nova). Map 5: Phoenix 16‑11 (Reverse sweep sealed).
Viewership & Numbers
According to Esports Charts, the final peaked at 2.3 million concurrent viewers, averaging 1.4 million across the five‑map marathon. Total watch time topped 18 million minutes – a record for a Call of Duty: Mobile championship.
Prize pool: $1 million. Winners split $500 K, runners‑up $250 K, and the remaining $250 K distributed among the top eight.
‘This is the greatest upset of the year,’ said analyst Marco “StatMaster” Rivera during the post‑match breakdown.
Bracket Impact
Phoenix’s victory reshapes the global scene. With the win, they lock in a spot at the 2027 Invitational and earn four championship points, vaulting them from fifth to first in the CODM world rankings.
And the loss drops Nova to third place, ending their two‑year reign. Because the bracket now favors a more diverse field, upcoming regional qualifiers will see tighter competition.
So expect a scramble for sponsorships as brands chase the new champion’s rising hype.
