Fans finally got the news they were begging for: Season 2 of Carrie is officially green‑lit.
Amazon Prime Video announced on July 12, 2024 that the supernatural thriller will return for a second run, slated to debut in the fall of 2025.
The renewal came as a surprise—most critics assumed the show was a one‑off. And the press release confirmed that production will kick off in early 2025, with post‑production wrapping by summer.
Season 2 will feature 10 episodes, each running between 45‑55 minutes. The episode count mirrors the first season, ensuring the story has room to breathe without dragging.
Sydney Sweeney is back as Carrie White, bringing her signature intensity to the role. Jovan Adepo reprises his part as Chris, and newcomer Maya Hawke joins as a mysterious new student. Director David Gordon Green, who helmed three episodes of Season 1, returns to shape the visual tone. Showrunner Jason Rothenberg confirmed the writers’ room will expand to include two horror veterans, aiming for deeper mythos. I watched the first season twice in my kitchen at 3 AM, and the cliffhanger still gave me chills.
“We’re thrilled to bring Carrie back for a second season and continue exploring the darkness that made the first run so compelling,” the Amazon press release read.
Because the series dives into 1970s telekinetic lore, the new season will up the visual effects budget by 30 percent, allowing for more on‑screen telekinesis. Not what we expected. The package arrived on a rainy Tuesday, and the first look at the new promo shows Carrie levitating a school hallway—jaw‑dropping.
